We left for Tennesee yesterday afternoon around 4:30pm and spent most of the evening travelling. Our flight out of Rochester went pretty smooth, and despite the fact that there were no less than four babies on board (ugh), AND we were seated directly across from two of them, there was not much wailing or crying or screaming…from them or me. While the little boy seated directly across from me in the aisle pretty much slept in his mom’s lap the entire way, the little girl in front of him had her own seat, and kept peering around the seat arm to stare at us and smile. It’s funny, most little kids are fascinated by me & Craig-I think it works on the whole cat hater’s premise. Ya know, you hate cats, and then you encounter one at someone’s house, and it chooses you, the cat hater, to cuddle up to and love up on. I think babies and toddlers work the same way. (or so I am told, I loooove cats!)
Aaaannnywaaaay, our connecting flight out of Charlotte to Knoxville was very short, and it was a smooth trip as well. And hey, no babies! What made it not so much fun was the military guy in fatigues behind us who kept coughing & sneezing & sniffling & snuffling every few seconds. *shivers* The guy was so full of phlegm, I swear I could feel the germs crawling over the seat backs to get at us. Ewwww. I was completely skeeved. Then also, as we approached for our landing, the plane kept swerving back and forth like something was wrong, and then suddenly we were ascending again. Everyone in the cabin was like “WTF?” The pilot did announce over the radio that another plane that was scheduled to land before us never got off the runway, which was the whyfor for the second ascent, however, when we began descending a second time for our landing, there was none of the weird swerving, so who knows what the real story may have been. We got into Knoxville at 9:45pm, and Craig’s parents were there waiting.
After getting back to their house, and having a quick bite to eat, I was exhausted, so I went to bed, while Craig stayed up to play some pool. Today has been really relaxing, we’ve pretty much just hung out at home, though we did take a ride to see the new house they’re building.
It’s kinda cloudy and cold here so far. I was looking forward to sun, and 60 degree weather. Hopefully tomorrow! So far, it looks alot like western NY. Maybe a bit more hilly. I’ve been told there’s mountains all around me, but you can’t see ’em for the cloud cover, today anyway.
The parents’ house is located on a golf course and a lake, which makes for a great view. Craig has already called to see if they rent clubs so he can get in a game or two while he’s here.
I tried to do my weekly claim for unemployment today, and it’s telling me I have to call in now to verify my waiting week, which I already did Wednesday, I thought. And of course, I have none of the paperwork with me. Brilliant. I hope there’s not an issue.
Grr. I’m supposed to be on vaca, dangit.
