beagley So, I’ve been trying to write a blog post for days now, but nothing’s coming. The problem is not that there’s nothing going on. The problem is that there’s too much going on and honestly, where do I freaking begin?

Some stuff I can’t discuss, namely the stuff at work. Work is completely ridiculous right now. Things are happening in upper management that are just drastically changing the face of how my company has always done things. Employees are nervous, scared, confused, upset, frustrated, angry—you name it. There is very little communication. Couple all of that with what’s going on with the economy and you have a pretty good idea of the chaotic mess we face daily. Not good.

Dad had quadruple bypass surgery 10 days ago at Rochester General and is doing great! He was discharged this past Monday and is happy to be back at the nursing home. I’m still having a really hard time balancing all this Dad stuff. It takes so much time from not just me, but Craig too. Finances, appointments, visits, needs, wants—it is definately alot. And then dealing with his sister, who’s been such a huge bitch, is just another headache. She called on Sunday around 7 or 8pm, the night before he was discharged, telling me she and her family were coming for a visit this coming weekend from PA & MD. Several times, I very patiently explained why I thought this was not a good idea. He’s just getting discharged, he needs recovery time, he will be very tired and not really up for an extended visit. She told me in no uncertain terms that she comes “now or not at all.” She also was intent on asking wildly inappropriate questions, such as how we’re paying for his care. *shakes her head*

She doesn’t understand. This is not about her. It’s about him. Let the man have some recovery time for crying out loud, before you come blasting your way up here, expecting all day visits. Saying you’re coming now or not at all, doesn’t punish me, it punishes him. I could give a shit whether you came or not. In fact, it would be one less headache for me if you stayed home. And it is absolutely none of her business how we’re paying for anything! Of course, I said none of this to her in the spirit of niceness, getting along and respecting one’s elders.

She didn’t hear a word I said the entire conversation, but rather competed by talking over me. Just like my dad does. I just let her do it. She was rude and classless, and bullied me for information, while I was nice to the Nth degree and tolerant, oh so tolerant. At the end of the conversation, I was left with the impression that she will do whatever the hell she wants to do, regardless. I think she thinks I am deterring her visit because she believes I’m hiding something from her and so now she’ll be more determined than ever to get up here this weekend. Grrrrrr. Let the poor man have some rest!!!!

I feel stressed. I feel like I have no control over my life. I feel like my life really isn’t even my own any more. It sucks. THIS SUCKS. And there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

There is some good stuff though. *sparklygrin* I’m enrolled in bellydance classes again-actually my 8 week course is almost over and it’s nearly time to sign up again. I took a hoopdance class as well this time around and absolutely loved it. I’m completely hooked now. As soon as my instructor posts her new class schedule, I’ll be signing up again for that as well and bringing a friend or two with me.

Thanks to Facebook, I’m back in touch with my cousin John (from my mom’s side) *grinwavies* as well as a few other people I’d kinda lost track of. Yay! I heart Facebook.

We saw Fleetwood Mac in March and had mad awesome seats!!!! Craig had gotten us tickets for my birthday the day they had gone on sale. Then a couple weeks before the concert, I won two more tickets, also pretty great seats, and gave those to a friend of mine and her boyfriend. It was such an AWESOME show. I loved it!!!!!! And I was sooo sad when it was over-I didn’t want it to ever end. Lindsay, Stevie and Mick all looked fantastic and performed as though they enjoyed every second of it. It was a magical night!

The nice weather is slowly starting to get here. Yay! I’m excited about doing gardening and flowers and vegetables again this year.

My inlaws are moving back to this area from TN. They close on their new house in May, so that’s pretty exciting. We’ll be glad to have them back.

I’m rereading the entire Laurell K. Hamilton “Anita Blake” collection and so I haven’t really read anything new, so to speak, in awhile. I’m on the 14th one right now-“Danse Macabre.” These later books are so full of the ardeur-it sometimes gets a little tiring, but I do still enjoy them. Once, I’m done with those, I wanna reread Charlaine Harris’ “Sookie Stackhouse” series, hopefully before the new season of True Blood starts! *happysigh* I lovelovelove that show. That alone is worth the cost of HBO, not to mention the Tudors and Big Love and all the other great series.

I’m also addicted to The United States of Tara on Showtime.

I guess that’s about it for now. Happy Hump Day! We’re almost to the weekend-yay! Now, if I can just make it though the rest of the day…..

That’s right. *happydance* In a recent interview, Joss Whedon told EW’s Jeff Jensen that he will be picking up the show right after it left off at season 7, in comic book form. Expect 25-30 issues, beginning this coming March.

So what’s the 411 on our favorite vampy Slayer?

”Not so much with the freedom,” quips Whedon. ”Not that everything is dire and angsty and season six-y, But she’s dealing with the consequences of having empowered thousands of girls around the world. She may have closed the Hellmouth under Sunnydale and defeated The First. But evil? Still rampant!”

Awesome. *hugegrin* We love fighting the Big Bad.

5 X 5,

Oh, and for even more info, browse the news links at Whedonesque.

6733785.gif Let’s see….I got up around 6am as Craig was up and getting ready for work; then after feeding the dog, I watched some TV, mostly the news and then last week’s tivoed ANTM. Then I made something to eat, watched some more TV…mostly tivoed stuff-a japanese horror flick called “The Eye,” the 2006 Spike Scream Awards, another movie with Uma Thurman called “Prime,” and then I think I just flipped through the channels. I had a doctor’s appt at 4:30pm, so around 2pm I finally got myself off the couch and in the shower.

That’s pretty much it. I’ve been a real lump today. *sigh*

tom2.gif So far this weekend has been pretty busy. After going out to breakfast, I spent most of the afternoon baking cookies. Not for any special reason, but just because I wanted to. I’ve been on a baking jag lately, and have baked something every weekend for the last three or four weeks. Today I made about 14 dozen cookies (yeah, I know, I’m insane)-soft molasses, peanut butter, and chocolate chip. We gave some to our friends who live next door, and I have a feeling both Craig and I will end up taking some in to work. There’s literally a ton of cookies. Anyway, after that, we went out to pick up subs for dinner from DiBella’s and also popped by Barnes & Noble so I could grab a few books. We watched this week’s Tivoed epi of Gray’s Anatomy while we ate. Poor Christina. Yay Izzy! And oh! What about the two utereuses??!! Gods, I don’t even want the one I’ve got, I can’t imagine having two!!!! *grimaceshiver*

Last night, we had dinner with friends. Yummy chicken parm with pasta, and brownies for desert! Afterwards, we played Scattergories & hung out. It was a blast!-Thanks, Jen & John! We really need to do more things like that. Craig and I have become such recluses, all snugged in and nesty at home. I don’t really keep in touch with any of my single “go out” friends anymore. We just don’t have anything in common at this point in our lives, ya know? And it’s hard to meet other couples our age that are unencumbered by children. I would absolutely love to have a small circle of close girlfriends, but most women my age who are married have young children, and it just interferes too much with trying to maintain an active friendship, having to arrange a babysitter, not being able to do anything spur of the moment or spontaneous. Blah.

If you’re into ghosts, and EVP, and stuff like that, I happened across a neat wordpress blog in my travels today-Dark Walls. He’s got some pretty neat clips to check out. The Amityville stuff really fascinates me. Very creepy. *nods*

Not much on the agenda for tomorrow really. Maybe a little cleaning, and a trip to the park to hike with the dog. Of course that depends on the weather. It’s been really cold lately, but today was sunny, and would have been perfect despite the chill, but neither Craig nor I seemed to wanna make the effort in that direction.

Tuesday night I’m headed to Mystic Moon with my friend Cynthia to get our past lives done by Julie. I’m kinda pysched, it’ll be fun. We’ll probably go out to dinner too, and make a girls night out of it.

Rented Mission Impossible 3 & An American Haunting for the weekend, but haven’t watched them yet. We got these awesome free coupons from Cinemark for Blockbuster-each one includes 2 free movies (includes new releases), 2 free 20oz sodas, and a free tub of popcorn. *g* We used one today. Ya know it helps-we spend so much money and time at Blockbuster renting movies, we should own stock in the company by now.

I’m excited to watch An American Haunting as it’s based on a true haunting (the Bell Witch) in Tennessee. I told Craig I’d do some research and see how far it is from where his parents live in TN, and maybe when we’re there we can check it out. I also believe The Blair Witch Project was based, in part, on the story of the Bell Witch, but I’m not 100% certain.

I think Craig is watching the tail end of the Sabres game, so I’m gonna pop down and grab my recipes, and then maybe post a couple of the cookie recipes I used today. They all kick ass, but I would have to say that the peanut butter one is the bestest!!

mollyfinger.gif Ok, so never having been a fan of Rush Limbaugh, I can’t honestly say this surprises me, but it definitely makes me wanna take him out back, and beat the hell out of him.

You must have heard about how Limbaugh criticized & poked fun of Michael J. Fox regarding a political commercial in which Fox speaks about the importance of stem cell research and it’s role in fighting & possibly curing such life-threatening diseases as cancer and Parkinson’s. Fox, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease for many years now, is a strong voice in the fight for stem cell research. Prior to a half-assed apology issued by Limbaugh stating basically that Fox was allowing himself to be taken advantage of, Limbaugh accused Fox of playing up his disease for the commercial; faking it, if you will, for the cameras. He even went so far as to mimic Fox’s performance in the commercial, making fun of the physical movements Fox must endure as part of his chronic illness.

What the hell??!! Antics such as that are atrocious, and more befitting a 12 year old bully on the playground. We all know exactly what kind of man Rush Limbaugh presents himself to be, however, is nothing sacred to this man? What’s next, picking on the mentally disabled?!

Rush Limbaugh is a ginormous ass. There is none bigger.

tig2.gif Katie, things just haven’t been the same since you’ve been gone. The new girl, Meredith, is no replacement for America’s Sweetheart. She gives lousy interview. I’m sure you’ve heard all about how she’s constantly interrupting her interview, and appears to have no sense of timing. Why, she was so rude to the First Lady, Matt & Al looked embarrassed. Today’s interview with Delaware Senator Joe Biden should have been a breeze, but with Mere’s constant interruptions and awkward pauses, the normally easy going Senator just looked frustrated most of the time, and was barely able to get a word in edgewise.

Speaking of the guys, Matt and Al just look tortured at times chatting with her. There is no chemistry there at all. She doesn’t have your sensibility, and she’s definitely lacking your timing, as well as your grace, your strength & vulnerability, and your wonderful sense of humor.

Come back, Katie, come back to Today. We miss you. Matt & Al miss you.

Send Mere back to The View, let Barbara deal with her.
